This was another build to try out a technique or two. I like using Focke-Wulfs for this purpose because they're simple to build, I have a lot of aftermarket decals for them and the canopy is easy to mask.

The first technique was to use nothing but water-based paints on the exterior. The yellow under the cowling and on the rudder was AMMO 0125 Gold Yellow (RLM 04). That was masked (that was actually the only masking done on the exterior, save for the canopy), and then Model Air 71.257 RLM 76 was sprayed on the bottom. On the top, AMMO RLM 75 and RLM 74 were used. I was not pleased with the RLM 74 - it seemed much too light. Interestingly enough, even though the hues are quite different, the demarcation between the two colors is not visually obvious.

The second technique was to try Micro Gloss for the pre-decal gloss coat. I was not pleased with this at all. I could barely see any difference when I sprayed it, so I had to cover it with my standby, Quick Shine. The decals came from Aeromaster 48-138 Early Butcher Birds Part 1. I used Micro Flat for the post-decal flat coat, as I did with the Ki-100, and again it worked well. I actually ordered a second bottle, as it is now my go-to for flat coats.

Build completed April, 2025.
